Key 2025 dates for EU AI Regulation

Three dates to remember that are coming in 2025 for companies developing or deploying AI in the EU or EEA areas!

  • February 2nd: deadline to start educating all staff involved in AI to ensure they are literate on both the opportunities, risks and legal obligations

  • May 2nd: the EU’s AI Office finalises the code of conduct for General Purpose AI providers. You’re not a provider? If you modify an existing General Purpose AI model via weight changes or RAG/agentic tools, you are potentially a provider to yourself.

  • August 2nd: the EU AI Act’s regulations apply to all providers of General Purpose AI’s released from this date onwards. Again, think you’re not a provider? See the bullet point above!
